Little Caesers Complaint - Discrimination

Review by louhayride68 on 2011-10-13
SHERVEPORT, LOUISIANA -- There was a help wanted sign in the window for cooks cashers etc so I applied. I was told to come back the following day, I did. There was a young lady ahead of me who was hired on the spot. My turn came I was told by the manager my problem with you is we have a lot of kids working here and I feel you do not fit in and you would be uncomfortable here and the crew would not really working with someone your age. They need help as we speak someone who is willing to work over the age of 40 and that is why I was not hired in this day and age of hardship in this country a job is a job and this was not right by no means.

That's a shame. Age shouldn't dictate whether or not someone can fit in at a workplace. Try at least to contact their corporate office and let them know how you feel.

Age discrimination is a major problem with many employers...especially when it comes to those whose unemployment compensation has been exhausted, and need something, even paying only minimum wage, just to keep the lights on and a roof over your head. Employers often label older job applicants "overqualified"...especially if they have previously worked a higher-paying position and have been out of work for a year or more. No wonder there are so many "99ers" out there...IMHO, employers who age-discriminate need to be sued.

You may also be viewed as overqualified due to your age and experience and a risk for hire in terms of leaving if a better opportunity comes up; such as an opening in your previous field of expertise that almost certainly paid better.

I'm sorry that happened to you. Age discrimination is against the law, and you should file a complaint with your state labor board for what he told you, about not fitting in. You want to work, and were basically told you were too old.

Your review makes me sad, because there are so many people who want to work, but are not hired due to age issues.

Good luck, I hope you find employment very soon.
