Zebra's Sports Bar Complaint - The game wasn't the only thing that sucked...

FARMINGTON, NEW MEXICO -- My wife and I decided to try a local sports bar last night to watch the Monday Night Football game between the Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets. It was my first and only visit to this business.

My wife ordered iced tea, and was brought tea...no ice. It tasted bitter and warm, so she switched to a Pepsi. We ordered a full plate of smothered nachos, but whatever we got instead was a plate full of chips smothered in just lettuce and olives. There was no meat or beans to been found. I grabbed the attention of the server, and explained that we'd like some toppings added to the tortilla chips. She said she'd have to check with her manager first. About 10-minutes later, a manager appeared with a fully loaded plate of nachos. But it was covered in onions, an item we asked them to hold on the original order. I'll give him credit for trying to correct the situation, but he should've conferred with the server in regards to our order specifications.

It was already the 3rd quarter of the game, and the server had yet to refill our drinks. We often saw her sitting on the other side chit-chatting with friends. She finally stopped by and asked if we were ready for our bill. I politely said no, and asked to order a dessert, fried cheesecake (something I had never tried before). When the server finally brought it out, she set it down and scurried away. No fork! I got up to get my own and ate the dessert. It was average tasting. Not sure what I was expecting from a sports bar though? At the very least, just some good customer service.

Excellent service can usually trump average tasting food.

I hate trying new sports bars for this very reason. If I'm going to go to a sports bar, I either go to Native New Yorker, or Tilted Kilt. Bott places offer great food and service. They're both a little pricier, but well worth the extra bucks.

Lexophiliac> Depravity is the devil in disguise. I moderate my intake.
