Home Depot Complaint - Installer Pads Fee
BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA -- When the installer came out to "measure" the door opening, it was actually an estimate process. The installer increased the displayed $399 charge to $479 and then added another $150 charge. The extra $150 was to "remove the nail strip." No one could tell me what that really meant. I suspected it was BS to fatten his profit. I was right. It covered using a reciprocating saw for about four minutes to cut off a strip from the new door. After several trips to the store I was finally told the installer had told them to "stay out the installation pricing" and stick to the selling. Apparently they obey his commands without any recourse. Had he not been closely watched during the work, I am convinced it would have been a crappy job. I probably could have gooten equal or work, far cheaper, by hiring an illegal in their parking lot. Damn shame overall.
