Lakeland Chrysler Dodge Complaint - Dealer sells car I agreed to buy to another buyer

Review by Dont F with me on 2011-10-22
LAKELAND, FLORIDA -- I found a used Ford Explorer on the dealerships website. I negotiated a sales price with my trade in with the internet sales manager on Monday or Tuesday. She prepared a buyers order and forwarded it to my credit union. I had the cashiers check prepared and everything was in order. The dealership is located 3 hours from me. She asked if I could pick up the vehicle on Friday. I told her I couldn't due to my work schedule. I told her I would be there on Saturday morning to pick up the vehicle. I even spoke to her Friday afternoon to let her know what time I would be arriving on Sat.& she said fine. On Friday night around 8:00 pm I receive a call from the dealership from someone else other than my sales person advising me the paperwork somehow got messed up and they sold the vehicle to someone else. I know what happened, they sold the vehicle to another person who offered them a better deal. What a bunch of unprofessional idiots, no wonder people hate used car salesmen.

I can understand how frustrating that must be but, in this case, absolutely no money had been placed upon the transaction nor does it sound like paperwork had been signed. With all respect, there's a saying, "Talk is cheap." It's a good thing to remember in a case like this.
