York Furniture Gallery Complaint - Dishonest Company - Bedroom Set

HENRIETTA, NEW YORK -- This is a local business that has been around for some time and of which we thought had a good reputation. Sales person Brenda made it a point to demonstrate how sturdy the dresser was by pounding her hand on the bottom of the drawer. Kept telling us it was solid furniture, made of wood and in the USA. She bragged about being an 11-year furniture sales person with York. After the typical go around we bought the furniture. What they delivered to us was a mediocre plywood and particleboard bedroom set with stickers everywhere claiming "MADE IN CHINA". We call that very day and asked why the stickers said made in China. Her explanation was she made a mistake and it was busy.... It was not busy. We were her only customers and we had to ask her to leave us alone for a few minutes so we could discuss purchasing the furniture. Plus an 11-year furniture sales person who knows this line of furniture we bought does not make that kind of mistake. Her manager, Larry, also stated the furniture was made in the USA. Both lied and both continue to lie.

So the furniture has so many flaws on every piece of furniture. Some drawers do not work; there are chips in the nightstands, rough finish and glue that was painted over. Per Larry he would replace it all. We want out money back but they are giving us a hard time and not working with us to fix the problems.

They did send out an independent furniture guy who told us the furniture was plywood and particleboard. He fixed the chipped wood by coloring it in with one of those wood pencils. Really, whom did he think he was fooling? Then he used steel wool to get rid of some of the rough surface. Still we are trying to get the other items fixed. They did order new rails for the one drawer and when talking with customer service they were looking into getting us a new nightstand. They promised to call back the following Monday and of course they did not.

They will say whatever to make a sale and then not stand behind the junk they make.

Sadly we learned after the fact that if we had gone to the Better Business Bureau we would have seen their grade of F.

There is actually some quality furniture made in China, just as there is some very poor quality mace there. I agree that a salesperson of 11 years should know the country of origin. Being in the furniture business, there is a lack of continued education in the industry to where this person did not know nor took the time to learn more about the product they were selling
