Subway Informative - Subway-Healthy Advertising
MILFORD, CONNECTICUT -- We went and picked up some Subway sandwiches the other day since I didn't feel like cooking, their cheese steak sandwich looked pretty good and their prices are reasonable for what you get. When I got home, I noticed that on the napkins (the Subway gal gave us a bunch of them, which was appreciated), they have a list of their Fresh Fit sandwichs with both the calaroies and fat listed. Additionally, they list 2 condiments (mustard & olive oil) and cheese with fat & calories noted so that folks looking to watch their weight have a handy chart to refer to. As an added touch, they show the calories and fat for a Big Mac and a Whopper. It's clever advertisng, but useful information, as well. Putting it on napkins is a smart move since you're eaterie will be handing those out to all the customers. The ads did influence me. When I look and see 8 possible sandwiches that are significantly less caloric & fatty than their competitors (tasty, too), I'm more likely to go out and get a sub than roll through the burger place when I'm too lazy to bother whipping up a dinner or lunch at home. A tip o' the hat to you and your ad agency, Subway!
