Ford Motor Informative - Warranty rip-off - 2002 Ford Ranger
OHIO -- 7/16/03 purchased "new" Ford Ranger at Ricart Ford in Columbus, OH. On 8/16/05 took to Ohio Valley Ford in Moundsville, WV because cd changer stuck, loud squeaking noise under hood. Was told that truck was out of warranty by 3 weeks. When asked how this could be they said, truck warranty started when Ricart received truck, even though truck was purchased 7/16/03. Ricart apparently used the truck as a "loaner", so all the time it sat on the lot the warranty meter was running. Isn't this ridiculous! I told Ford that I had purchased 7 new Ford trucks since 1986. I also purchased 1 new Ford Explorer from Ford. As a loyal Ford customer, I asked if they could do a "good will gesture" and make the repairs at no cost or reduced cost. They said that they could not do this. Funny, my wife now has an 03 Trail Blazer that went out of warranty about six weeks ago. Three weeks ago we noticed a rattling noise and was told by the Chevy dealer that it neaded new torsion bar ends which they REPLACED AT NO COST EVEN THOUGH THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED THREE WEEKS EARLIER. When I purchase new pickups for my business they will NOT BE FORDS-THEY WILL BE CHEVY.
