Avis Rental Car Informative - Bogus Charges - Customer Service Useless - Rental Car
Review by luis33 on 2011-11-10
PARIS, FRANCE -- I have rented a car from Avis while travelling in France. When I returned it to the rental location in Paris, without me noticing or discussing anything with me, the agent added 280 euros in damages. I did not notice it in the receipt because I don't understand French very well and the last number that showed in the receipt was not the full amount, but a number that was very close to what I expected to pay.
When I returned to the US and saw the amount that was charged to the credit card, I investigated what happened and was told by Avis customer service that the extra amount was due to damages to the car. They never showed me the portion of the contract that is supposed highlight in a figure any damages to the car---neither at the rental location or later via Avis' customer service.
In the end, Avis refused to do anything and the final response was simply:
"Avis France is a separate operating entity. If you have any questions or concerns you may contact them direct at: customerservice. france@bsc. avis-europe.com or service. client@budget-emea.com"
In other words, don't count on any help from Avis Customer Service to resolve bogus charges on Avis rentals abroad.
