Vizio Complaint - Vizio - Bad product - TV

TV - Complaint
Review by mldoyel98 on 2011-11-10
INDIAN ROCKS BEACH, FLORIDA -- Bought a 26" Vizio TV for a rental unit bedroom in Nov 2010. In Nov 2011 video went blank but still had sound. Rental unit was only rented for 2 months (Feb-Mar 2011) plus 3 weeks of personal use from time of purchase totaling less than 3 months combinedl use. Repairman stated common problem with Vizio TVs. Went online to tech support but had trouble registering complaint. Report form kept recycling preventing me from sending it. Tried the phone line but only got music. Never did get a real person. Will not buy another Vizio or recommend one.

Vizio is a factory seconds or lower end television. The industry is filled with these brands now, Vizio being the most noticed. The problem is how these "factory seconds" televisions come about. The major manufacturers, such as Sony, Samsung, Sharp, LG and Panasonic produce most of the components used within current televisions. However, these components don't always measure up to the quality control standards set by their manufacturers. These components are then sold off to the lower end brands which only assemble the discarded parts to make a lower cost product. Unfortunately, this is a perfect example of the cheap coming out expensive. These factory seconds manufacturers or assemblers generally do not offer local service centers for their products. When a product goes out and needs to be serviced, at least under any warranty that may be offered, one needs to generally repackage it within it's ORIGINAL BOX AND PACKAGING AND PAY TO HAVE IT SENT TO THE MANUFACTURER. Not doing so within the original box AND packaging voids all warranty claims. And if you haven't kept the box around -- be prepared to pay upwards to $150 for a new box and packaging to be sent to you.

Look, there's nothing wrong with purchasing a factory seconds product. They're predominant now in the television industry, but you can see them in all forms of electronics and appliances. You just need to be a smart buyer and know a little about what it is you're purchasing -- along with the warranty coverage (if any) backing the product.

I must vigorously disagree that Vizio is a low-end seconds television. I followed the birth of Visio, and we purchased a 43" set, and have been very happy with it for over three years now. I fully intend to only purchase Vizio sets from now on. The OP had a bad experience, and that is unfortunate. The repairman was dishonest in claiming that Visios were common problems.

I have a Vizio 32' plasma and it has been in the shop 3 times, not only is this a bad product, they I mean (Vizio)would not stand behind there own product.I had to pay out of pocket each time to get it fixed. To make things worst the tv was only 5 months old at the time. Now you make up your mind.
