i know this is an suggettion, why not buy a flag and donate it to the post office?

andbran makes an excellent point.

I know the "occupy" people think that the rich should pay for everything, but when are everyone else gonna step up?

I'm tired of living my life to the "lowest" common denominator, defined by the likes of poor people, black people, illegal people, old people, young people, etc.

Where I live, there is a new law being considered to require all government buildings to fly American flags - and flags made in the U.S. only!

I concur with andbran and S Hawking.

It does bother me to see U.S. flags that are made in China.

I agree with the others. The flag should always be displayed according to the flag code, and honorably destroyed when it is no longer serviceable. You can contact your congresman and request a flag that has flown over the Capital Building, and give it to the Post Office. I agree that any American flag should be made only in the US. To buy a Chinese made flag is an affront.

That's interesting, to request a flag flown over the state capitol. What a great suggestion/information, Starlord!

The flag code is a bit vague on how tattered a flag can be before it can no longer be used as a symbol of the country. Also, is there any chance of historical significance of this particular flag?

Anyways, this just sounds like a "be a part of your community thing and help them get a new one" solution if it bothers you enough to write a complaint about it.

Good question, Jay. But I have a feeling the flag is just weathered.

While worn flags can be interesting to look at, I don't think they should be flown. There is no excuse not to replace tattered flags.

A company near me went out of business, and left a flag on the flag pole. I noticed a month ago it was in tatters, so I cranked it down and removed it.

Most local American Legions will go and offer/replace a flag that is damaged for free. The will also respectfully decomission the old one.

I can understand why this would bother the poster. As mentioned, unless this flag his a particular significance, perhaps someone there should show some pride and replace the symbol of our country they display.
I wouldn't look twice if it was on someones lawn, but this is a Government building, right?
