Equicredit Complaint - Harrassment - Home Mortgage Loan

Review by Anonymous on 2001-11-23
JACKSONVILLE -- Watch who you get a mortgage loan from during these low interest times! We refinanced in July 2001 with Soluna First. Before we made our first payment, they sold our loan to Equicredit, a division of Bank of America.
We wanted the due date changed to coincide with our pay period. At the closing we were told that we could do this as soon as we made our first payment. Since Soluna First sold the loan to Equicredit, Equicredit has a different set of rules. They will not change the due date! Our payment is due on the 1st of the month, late after the 15th. We wanted the due date to be the 15th as we are paid on the 10th and 25th of the month. This would give us the option to pay it from either pay period. We send the payment on the 10th of the month, but the nasty phone calls start on the 2nd. We have been told that we are worthless, that our house will be foreclosed, that we are ruining our credit, and so on.
Fact is that until the account goes 30 days past due, it does not reflect on your credit and we have never incurred a late fee.
We plan to refinance again next July and you can bet your sweet ass it won't be with these people and I will make sure that the lender will be the lender throughout the term of the loan.

Whoever provided this "service," deserves to be P.O.B (put out of business).

I think this is a great service. Companies that have bad policy thrive due to consumer ignorance. This is a great communication tool. In many cases it must be taken with a grain of salt, but it at least give a forwarning to "watch your sweet ass" as this guy has put it.

"I will make sure that the lender will be the lender throughout the term of the loan." Good luck! Mortgage loans are sold and sold again. Read your contract before you refinance as you may not find what you are looking for.
