Vizio Complaint - Don't Buy Any Vizio Product - VF551xvt TV

VF551xvt TV - Complaint
Review by john11379123 on 2011-11-16
LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA -- This TV is only 20 months old and a panel problem came up. Costco covers the product for two years and they hooked me up with Vizio Warranty. These fools and rude, try to give you a lower product in exchange for your high priced Tv. Do not buy a Vizio product. These guys sell cheap products that do not stand up to usage. Their customer service department personnel are rude and unprofessional.

If you want a cheap product and love to be treated like dirt: then buy a Vizio....

Vizio is one of the best known of the "seconds" parts manufacturers in the business. Along with their products being cheaply priced, they are, unfortunately, also cheaply built.

I also don't think much of the extended warranty programs through Costco. They're third party and have nothing to do with the retailer when you need to use the service.

IMHO, there's nothing wrong with buying cheap, you just need to know what it is you're buying.

This is the second time I have seen Vizio called 'seconds.' (Must be a joke there somewhere.) We purchased a Vizio three years ago, and it runs almost 24/7, and we ahve never had a moment's trouble out of it. The picture is as clear and crisp as it was the day we bought it. Hooking it up is simple as pie, and it also works well with my game systems. I admit that you can get a bad example of any product, I have even seen a couple of Rolls-Royce lemons. Just because the OP has a bad set, that does not mean they are all bad. Remember, they are made by imperfect creatures, and I fail to see how you can expect perfection.

Starlord, you have a gaming system! Im shocked considering your age! Are you, by any chance, perfecting your sniper shots in the new video game, Modern Warfare 3?

There are several of these "seconds" manufacturers in just about any merchandise you find. Televisions are a popular one right now. In essence, the major parts manufacturers, in many cases brand name producers themselves, build the parts for these products. When parts are rejected as not falling within their quality control guidelines, they get sold off to the "seconds" manufacturers. They don't generally produce any of the components that are used; they only assemble a lower grade of part. They're great as long as they work without issue. Generally, though, you won't find a service center based around these brands so getting them service, even under their warranty, is nearly impossible. If the consumer has retained both the original box and packaging in order to ship it for servicing, the consumer can purchase it then pay to have the product shipped back for service. Basically, it means when the merchandise has problems, it's disposable.
