Sears Complaint - Parts Support Awful
VENTURA, CALIFORNIA -- In December 2006 I bought a Sears Craftsman Backpack Blower, model 316.794990. In November 2011 it was barely running and in need of a new spark plug, Champion RZ7c. Went to the store. None there. Was told that could get it online at their site. There they wanted $8.72 for the plug and $7.99 shipping for a total of $16.81 and it would take 12 days to get it. Terrible. It's a weird little plug. Two of my local, trusted mower shops didn't have it and couldn't find a substitute for it. Found it on sparkplugs.com for $4.64 plus $6.95 shipping for a total of $11.59 with same or next day shipping.
No worthwhile parts service here anymore. No wonder they have been having trouble. I'll never buy anything else at Sears again. I'm 75 years old and I can remember when every home had a Sears catalog right at hand and we always bought at Sears because we had come to trust them for the best products and services at the best price. No more. Too bad. Sears seems to be a reflection of what has happened to this country and the world in general.
