General Electric Complaint - GE Refrigerator - Inferior products, even worse customer service
FAIRFIELD, CONNECTICUT -- I Purchased the refrigerator from Home Depot in Northern Ohio. It was delivered, plugged-in and pushed into place. Home Depot subcontracts their appliance deliveries, (their delivery contractor for all appliances is General Electric). The new refrigerator was left running for several hours when I noticed that it was not getting cold. I called Home Depot who transferred me to GE warranty service. A service call was scheduled with a window of 8am - 12am on Friday. The service person (an independent company contracted for my region with GE) never showed up. I called again after the weekend and rescheduled for Tuesday. When the service person showed up, he reported that the refrigerator had no freon and needed a new compressor and evaporator. These major parts would take 15 days to arrive. I called GE warranty again to request an replacement. My claim was denied, they offered to fix the existing unit. I called Home Depot who said they would give a refund, but I had to return the unit to the store...their delivery company (GE)only drops off, they do not pick-up. I have spent hours on hold and being transferred. GE is pointing at Home Depot, and Home depot is pointing at GE. BAD PRODUCTS, BAD SERVICE. I am selling my GE stock and will never buy another GE product.
