Enterprise Rent-A-Car Complaint - Just A Rip Off - Charge For Damage Scam

Charge For Damage Scam - Complaint
Review by mark.9.haynes22 on 2011-11-17
Resolution Update on 12/01/2011:
Well, I just got a letter from them stating that they have closed the claim against me, and they apoligized for the inconvenience. Feeling better
GRESHAM, OREGON -- I rented a car for one day and returned the car that evening. The office called me the next day and said I had to pay for damage to the car. I went to their office to see this damage and they said there was no damage to the car, but then the guy who called me pointed out a very subtle crease high on the side. It wasn't a scratch and you had to look at it from a certain angle to see it. It was there before and was missed but this guy just said the damage was noted after the car was returned.

He took 100.00 from my credit card to have Paintless dent repair, that was bad enough, but I got a bill today for an additional $850.00 for the repair.
Now I'm thinking this whole thing is a scam and just a way to generate additional revenue. I'll spend the 850 on an attorney before being a victim of this corporate greed.

Does anyone else have a similar experience with Enterprise. Let's get a class action lawsuit going.

I'll update with the outcome.

You say this crease was hard to see, but was there when you rented the car.

Did you notice it when you picked the car up?

This too just happen to me in Indiana. It was noted as a "scuff mark" on the rental document. Then comes a bill for removal and paint job for $422.00. These people need to pay the price for their scam.

they try the same thing with me. go with your received to your bank or credit card company and dispute the charges. they return the funds to my account due corrupt charges. I just received a letter asking me to send the $400.00 after my bank refund the corrupt charges. i want to start a class action and stop this corruption. if interested email me wave1382@gmail.com we need more people to sue. make me sick few bad apples give bad name to companies. both this is the only way they will listen. some managers cover for corruct employees all the time.

I missed the update to this complaint, and I'm glad to see it was resolved in the OP's favor.

To the most recent comment, I'm not sure you could assemble a class action lawsuit for something like this, but good luck.

After reading complaints like these, I'll think carefully about asking a rental agency rep to walk around the car with me after I return it in the future.

Same thing happened to me. I rented at philly airport. Car had scrathes and dents all over it. The guy who checked me out said he noted them. When i returned the car the rudest girl i have ever meet said why is there scratch on the hood. I told her it was already there and she said they would get back to me in 7 days. I get home and the NEXT DAY they charged my credit card $500 dollars. I feel RIPED OFF!

Chad, just dispute the charge through your credit card company. They have to prove that you did it. You must still have the paperwork you received when you took the car. He should've written it down and given it to you.

The same scenario but with additional scam, when I called to reserve car I was quoted a low rate but when I went to pick up the contract I signed was 10.00 more, the agent refused to mark the dents, dings and scratches on the contract cause she assured me they would never charge for tiny dings. upon returning the original agent happens to not be available and new agent refused to let me leave without signing damage report with ding. she also charged credit card full amount, two days later my insurance company sent them a check for the same rental agreement and now company is refusing to reimburse the duplicate payment stating they can't find it in system. they also sent letter one month later to pay for the ding that was already there when the agent refused to mark it on the contract. I urge everyone to file a class action complaint on classaction.com under consumer fraud. it does not cost anything and scammed victims may get rewarded with penalties and interest on the amount that enterprise scammed. if they are not stopped they will continue to do this 365 days through out the country ultimately increasing our insurance cost, I have rented from hertz and avis and have never had a single issue with rates or damage or double payment scams. anyone else out there that has been triple scammed?
