Outback Steak House Complaint - 'The only thing good was the water?'

Review by missywoman on 2011-11-19
GULFPORT, MISSISSIPPI -- As we sat for an hour waiting to be seated, we were hungry and just couldn't wait for the steak we were to order. After being seated, we were waited on and soon receive an appetizer, a burning onion! Whoa! Never had it before, but we was sure that being partial burnt wasn't the way it was to taste. Okay, that killed some of our hunger, well lets wait on dinner. Lookin at burnt onion in comes our dinner! Quickly cutting into our steaks, we began to chew, and chew and chew..... And well, lets just add steak sauce. Ah? The steak was more durable than a pair of buster brown shoes! Tough! Wow! It was cooked right, and the meat was tough. We looked at each other, and looked at the large coconut shrimp on my plate! He grabs the shrimp and the batter falls off revealing the shrimp that was as small as popcorn shrimp! Wth! We asked for a doggie bag, needless to say, but my doggie wouldn't eat it!

Did you complain about the food to the management?

I ate at outback once it was alright. But the Steak tasted like shoe leather allot of gristle and not much flavor.

I now prefer Texas roadhouse as my number 1 steak house.

I'm not a fan of Outback either. It's overpriced, mediocre food. Texas Roadhouse is my first choice too

Waiting that long is going to put anyone in a bad mood. If you were that dissatisfid you certaily should have let the manager know or sent something back to kitchen or simply just left.

My number 1 steakhouse is my home. I don't order steak out because I can cook a piece of beef myself. I've had bad experiences at all these mid-level chains. I never ordered a steak at TRH, but the service at mine was so horrendous I wouldn't go back and even order chicken on a stick.

The service at my local Outback was just as bad as at TRH, but the food was far worse.

I go out less often now and go to nicer places. It isn't worth the misery.

I love a good glass of ice-water.

Although there is no Outback in Gulfport, MS, my wife and I adore the location in Diberville, MS. We have never had a problem with food quality. It is possible your experience was a fluke because we go there all the time and always have a wonderful experience.

It's possible, Firefly. But if you read some of these other reviews, you would have to summise that it is a nationwide fluke.

Clutzy, I said it was a fluke with this location. Which it most likely is, because I go there often and always have wonderful food and service.
