Farm Fresh Supermarkets Compliment - Fresh and delicious!
At first, I was going to write this review about only one product that Farm Fresh makes..their sushi. I was thinking I was craving it after work the other night, and didn't feel like going out and spending big $$$. Since Farm Fresh is about 30 seconds away from where I work, I stopped by to see what goodies I could purchase. One thing in the sushi case caught my eye - ceviche sushi. I thought "whaaaat?", then "ok, I'll try it." I also picked up a bottle of sake (conveniently located in the same case), some extra prepared wasabi, and took my purchases home.
First of all, I tasted it without the wasabi, and found that I didn't need it. Absolutely refreshing and delicious! Salmon, jalapeno, tomato, cilantro, apple (?), and spicy mayo all wrapped up in perfectly prepared rice and nori, topped with a spicy red sauce.
I will either buy this again, or make it from scratch (now that I know what's it contains).
Since this review IS about Farm Fresh, I also have to mention their fried chicken from the deli. A couple of weeks ago, I had to entertain 11 people on just a few hours notice, after my niece's play. Farm Fresh to the rescue! I've had their fried chicken before, and was unsure if I could purchase a large-ish amount in a short period of time. 32 mixed pieces for $19.99 - not a problem, at all. I added a few deli salads, rolls, and veggies to throw together a vegetable tray. In 25 minutes, I pulled off a nice dinner, that was relatively inexpensive.
Their chicken never disappoints. Crispy, meaty, juicy - every cut of meat, including the breasts. Always delicious.
My goal is to continue to try more of Farm Fresh's prepared foods. Next? ..bakery!
Farm Fresh currently has 44 stores in Hampton Roads, Franklin and Richmond, Virginia, and Elizabeth City, North Carolina. The particular one I shopped at is located in northern Virginia Beach.
