Liberty Van Lines LLC Complaint - RIP OFF ALERT!!!!!!!

Review by barshad7864 on 2011-11-28
ROCKFILLE, MARYLAND -- This was the WORST BUSINESS EXCHANGE I'VE HAD IN MY LIFE.

TWO WORDS TO DESCRIBE THEIR BUSINESS PRACTICE: COERCIVE, and MANIPULATIVE!

I was quoted $400 and change for a move from 2 bedroom Condo to a town house that was literally 10 minutes away, and was instead charged close to $2200. Thats more than FIVE TIMES what I was quoted!!!

Most of our stuff was pre-packed in boxes and was already taken to our new place the night BEFORE by MY FAMILY, so there were a few nick-nacks and a few things left.... they apparently used 50 BOXES most of which were used to WRAP OUR FURNITURE WITH (like the sofa!?!?!??!?!). The rest of the 15 boxes were used for small items and they charged us $25 PER BOX, and they used more than 5 boxes of TAPE (each box had 8 tapes in them), and they shrink wrapped EVERYTHING and then taped it on TOP of shrink wrapping it including books, and pillows (really?!?!) and other things that need NOT be WRAPPED!!

When they arrived at the new place, the gave me a bill of $2200 that they said I had to pay before they would unload the truck... essentially they HIJACKED MY WHOLE LIFE until I paid them what they wanted. We even got the cops involved and Vladimir LIED to the cops and said there was no manager that he could speak to that day (after the cop left he was on the phone speaking to someone about what was happening...hmm wonder who he was talking to).

I called AnDrew and as soon as I told him I wanted to discuss the move I had, he hung up on me.

The bottom line is... unless you can afford to be charged 5 times what you are originally quoted, DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS. I've used movers to move over an hour away for $500, and they used the same material, they shrink wrapped and blanketed everything, and boxed everything properly.

!!!! RIP OFF ALERT - RIP OFF ALERT - RIP OFF ALERT !!!!

I know there was a story on 20/20 a few years ago, about moving companies like this one. They tell you one thing verbally, and then when your furniture and things are delivered to there destination, they jacked up the price by hundreds of dollars, and would not release anything until they were paid on the spot in cash.

It's so important to have a hard copy contract, signed by both parties so there are no surprises in the end. A quote is just that, a quote, and you cannot rely on that for what you will pay. Get EVERYTHING in writing.

Thanks for sharing your story and alerting others about your moving experience.

Thank gosh i didnt do this when i moved. My town has a local business "2 guys on the move" that helped me move all my things and were REAL fast and cost only 130 bucks to do in less than an hour? If only everything could be that good! If i were you, i would check out a few places just to see whats out there. I got lucky then again im in south dakota and im sure the cost of living is much cheaper here lol.....
