Macy's Informative - Miracle at Macy's

Review by Venice09 on 2011-11-29
MIDDLETOWN, NEW YORK -- The employees in the Housewares Department of Macy's are extraordinary. Every time I shop in that department, the employees go above and beyond to help me find what I'm looking for. If they can't find it in the store, they search online and let me know where it can be found at other Macy's locations. They do everything possible to send the customer away satisfied.

During my most recent visit, I was looking for certain pieces of cookware that I saw online but couldn't find in the store. After an associate determined that the items were not stocked at that location, she went online and found them at other Macy's stores. I didn't want to travel the distance, so she offered to have them sent to my home with free shipping. She also honored the online price, which was substantially lower, and gave me an unexpected 15% discount!

I can't vouch for other Macy's locations, but the one in Middletown, NY has never let me down. The employees are not only helpful, they are also pleasant and friendly. They treat customers like guests in their own home. The employees make the store a wonderful place to shop.

I've had a similar experience at our Macy's (The Waterfront in PA). There's a guy that works in housewares that always seems to be around at Christmas (which is when Macy's usually sees me) and he's been consistently good about advising me on gifts for my wife and relatives. The other employees are really helpful, too! Nice review!

Our Macy's here is like that also. They are the only place in Columbus that sells my perfume. I can walk in there in sweats and a pony tail and be treated like a queen.

They always put samples of new perfumes in my bag and let me know of any upcoming PWP or GWP they are aware of.

I was shocked when a similar thing happened to me at Sears of all places. The only thing I buy at Sears are Levis. My 36" inseam is hard to find. I went in a week ago and there wasn't one pair in the store with fully stocked shelves.

The CSR went online and found them and said she would have them shipped to my house for free. I was very impressed, but I wanted them right away. Found them elsewhere.

Good review Venice, and I see other satisfied customers. I'm not a big shopper, but I do remember I had to be careful to buy only on sale at Macy's years ago to get a fair price on the items I bought - housewares and small appliances.

Always great to hear about employees going above and beyond for customers. That was nice of the associate to honor the online price too. I hope you got the employee's name so you can let their supervisor know about their wonderful employee. Stuff like that does matter and goes into their permanent file

Anyone remember when Macy's East had a link direct to M3C's for any positive reviews made on the Macy's web site? Bad reviews never made it. Wonder whatever became of all of that?

My wife likes Macy's, she says it fills the gap between Nordstrom's and Kohl's.

I love my Kohl's, but Macy's is a bigger store with a wider selection of merchandise, so I guess you could consider it a step above Kohl's. I think Macy's prices used to be higher, but now the prices and sales are competitive with Kohl's. I guess Kohl's is the new Gimbels! I love both stores. They both have great customer service.

Yaya, no I didn't get the names, but now I wish that I had. Next time, I definitely will.

there are lots of quality departent stores that offer this type of quality service.

i prefer saks over macy's, the personal attention is superb.

So, write a review about Saks, madconsumer!

I wouldn't know because there are no Saks stores in my area.

Incidentally, it's Saks, not Sak's.

I wrote this as a compliment, but it showed up as an informative. Oh, well.. I guess it doesn't matter.

?? i did spell it as saks, not sak's!!
Posted by Venice09 on 2011-11-29:
No, you didn't. You just edited it, just as I expected you would.

Nice try though.

Very helpful review.

Why did you feel the need to undermine my review, madconsumer? And then edit your mistake after I brought it to your attention? We all make mistakes. It's no big deal. I just thought since you love the store so much, you'd want to use its proper name.

Sounds like they want to keep their customers happy and returning!

Very informative review. My nephew agrees!!

Macy's is competing with Kohl's in this area, so they can't afford to alienate customers. Aside from that, the employees are genuinely nice people. It really is a pleasure dealing with them.

I have a Macy's five minutes from me and I've never stepped foot in there. I just thought they'd be overpriced, maybe I should check them out one day.

Macy's is still one of my favorite stores.

My Macy's used to be Filene's, and when it switched I thought the prices would be higher. So I was pleasantly surprised to find out it was affordable, especially with sales and coupons. I'd shop there more often if it was closer. I just go to Kohl's because it's right near the house. The only other department stores around here are JCPenney and Sears, and I'm not really fond of those. I could drive down to New Jersey, but it's too nerve-racking. I'm out of practice.

Now this is customer service! I like to browse through Nordstrom but their service isn't like it used to be, so that's all I do there.
