All Star Concrete Complaint - Broken Contract and Shoddy Work
RIDGEWAY, SOUTH CAROLINA -- Reuben Simpson, owner of All Star Concrete broke his contract to remove and replace the driveway and walkway at my home at in Columbia, SC. Also, his workmanship was clearly substandard.
He failed to install control or expansion joints, to seal the stamped brick portions of the driveway and walkway and remove of all debris, which included a large stump.
Sections of the walkway where the stamping is dramatically misaligned and a second section where the coloring agent did not take, leaving the brick stamp streaked and with minimum red pigment. Red pigment from the brick stamping was also inappropriately spread over several sections of the driveway. Five weeks after the driveway was completed, five 12 inch cracks developed in the stamped brick sections that may not have occurred if this area had been sealed as promised. In addition, a 15 foot crack developed in the lower section of the driveway, exactly where an expansion joint should have been.
When we spoke with Mr. Simpson, he agreed to correct all problems as soon as possible. Subsequent attempts to reach Mr. Simpson were unsuccessful, although we have left detailed messages each time. Certified Letters requiring a return signature was sent. Both Certified Letters were returned after several weeks due to a failure to pick them up.
The Fairfield County Magistrate's Court has found him in default and I am awaiting a financial judgment that I am very unlikely to collect. Please DO NOT USE Reuben Simpson of All Star Concrete of Ridgeway, SC for any contract work.
