Lingo Complaint - Lingo Is Ripping Off Americans

Review by mkahkesh27 on 2011-11-29
LAS CRUCES, NEW MEXICO -- I have Lingo for more than three years. When I stated, I was paying $0.139 per min for calls to Iran. They changed the rate to $0.189 without notifying me. Since I pay automatically and they charge my credit card automatically, believe it or not, I did find out about this increase after two years. I contacted them and asked them about the over charged. They told me that Lingo may send the customers about the rate increase, but I am responsible to check their webside to find out about the rate increase. Now, Its been almost a month since I am trying to cancel my Lingo service. After keeping me on hold for about 40 minutes, the line gets disconected. I realy hate to see people do these kind of practice and the law won't prosecute them. What can I do?

First of all, stop allowing those automatic withdrawls from your credit card. Never EVER give anyone or any business access to your finances.

Have you tried to contact your state attorney generals consumer affairs office? You can file a complaint on line at:

You can use an international calling card for things like this. Most times, it's cheaper too!

Mkahkesh, you might want to look at both parties using a Magic Jack or Skype? With a high speed connection and both parties on the service the calls are pretty much free.

Try sending Lingo a certified letter telling them to stop the service and refund the last 30 days of service.

Also, do as Skye posted above. So there is another complaint on file. If enough people file complaints the AG's will wake up and pay attention.
