ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- I have always purchased HP products. That's until my daughter decided she wanted a Toshiba laptop. I have had several problems one of which involved me replacing the hard drive 4 months after she got it. It will be a year on 8/31/2005 that she has had this machine. I called the warranty dept to ask about extending the warranty for a few months since we had already come out of pocket to repair it. There was a very, very rude young lady who said to me "no, I can't"! She told me all I could do was to purchase an additional 2 year warranty @ $149.00. I explained to her the circumstances and she bluntly repeated to me the cost of the extended warranty. She told me that if I needed further assistance I would need to speak with customer service. In the middle of my next question, she put me on hold and switched me to back to customer service. The first time I called her, she needed the serial number. I told her the machine was at school in NC.. I am in GA. I ask if she could located our info by use of another method ans she said no. She told me to call cust. service, get my serial # and then call her back. What a way to represent the company you work for. I will never in my life time purchase another Toshiba product and I will advise my friends who have children starting college this fall to go with a different brand. If this machine has anymore problems, I will throw it in the trash and go back to HP. I now how their service works.
