Europcar Complaint - Europcar rental
MERIDA, YUCATAN -- We had a dreadful experience with Europcar in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. We had a confirmed printed reservation for 42 days. When we arrived with our reservation to pick up the car at the Fiesta Americana Hotel in Merida, the agent gave us one excuse after another why our rental could not be completed as reserved. (1) She said Europcar did not allow an American Express card reservation for more than 21 days, although American Express had told us we could rent for 42 days. (2) She told us there would be an additional charge for a second driver, although our PRINTED RESERVATION ON EUROPCAR LOGO LETTERHEAD CLEARLY said the second driver was free; and (3) she mis-used the credit card scanner so that neither my nor my husband's American Express card would clear the machine. We left after TWO HOURS with no rental car, although we had a confirmed printed reservation. We will never try to deal with this company again.
