Jack In The Box Restaurant Complaint - Charging Seated Customers For Water

Review by Catherine.Rodgers57 on 2011-12-12
ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI -- I went to the Jack-In The Box restauranton So. Grand Blvd. this morning hoping to try their new breakfast sandwich, i.e. waffle, sauage, egg and cheese. I was going to sit in the restaurant and eat, but when I placed my order I asked if I could have a cup of water with my meal and the young lady said no. I asked why I couldn't have acup of water and she stated that her manager was complaining about the cups. She didn't say that I could pay extra for it or not, just that she couldn't let me have any water. So, I cancelled my order, left and went to McDonald's.

did you ask specifially for a curtesy cup? they assumed you wanted a cup that they charge to put sodas in.

It's possible that they track inventory by cup count. Often times fast food places will have small courtesy cups for water, but not all places do.

So...where did the charge for water come into play?

I wonder if things would have turned out differently if you had actually spoken to the manager?

Seems silly for them to lose a customer over a cup of water, that you never received. I understand you may have had to pay for the cup, they pay for the cups, they aren't free, but you weren't even given the opportunity to find out how much you would have had to pay, for the cup.
