Chase Bank Credit Card Through Amazon Informative - Fraud Alert - Stolen Info - Chase Bank Credit Card Through Amazon

Review by lionking77 on 2011-12-12
Today one of the department stores where I have my credit card called me that someone called them inquiring about my credit limit on the card. That person knew all my personal information like social security, date of birth, address, etc... I had started to think how that happened as I never press any links I get in the email and my computer is constantly scanned for viruses. Then I remembered 2 weeks ago I made a purchase on Amazon.com and applied online for Chase Bank credit card. I believe and 99 percent sure that my personal information was compromised either at Amazon.com or Chase Bank. I am leaning more towards Chase Bank because as being a merchant also I had someone previously from foreign country trying to give me a bunch of stolen credit cards that were issued on Chase Bank. I believe there might be a leak somewhere at Chase Bank. By the way contacting Chase Bank about the issue is like contacting a brick wall.

You'd think Chase would be concerned about this. Just to be on the safe side, I would cancel the Chase card immediately.

If you asked questions about how fraud may occurred on your account, you may hit a brick wall.

If you feel you are the victim of identity theft, there are ways of pursuing that. But if you call a credit issuer and try asking how it could happen, I don't think they will be responsive for various reasons.

I have had two Chase cards for 6 years, use them for all my purchases, and have had no problem. They are also on file with Amazon.

I might cancel the particular card that was being inquired about. However, if your SSN and birthdate are out there, you could have a larger concern about ID theft.

Being 99% sure about a compromise at Amazon OR Chase doesn't identify which of the these that is 49.5% was the culprit.
