Buy Owner (www.buyowner.com) Complaint - Worthless Promises - Real Estate Sales

Review by tmalmer on 2005-09-02
LITTLE ELM, TEXAS -- I purchased a Buy Owner spread to sell my Home in January. The sales person was very kind and not aggressive. She gave me a lot of room for decisions however she had the usual sales gimmicks of the "special price ends today"..etc. I was told repeatedly that thousands view the site and homes sold on average through Buy Owner with in 3 months in our area.

As of today (September) I've received at max about six contacts including several phone calls and a couple of emails.

This service is a scam at the $2200 price I payed with promises of saving thousands.

I paid $366 per contact and have decided to take my home off the market and cut my loses.

Yes, I recieved the same information, that the special price was ending today, you have to buy now or not save the extra $500 or whatever it was. Like a jerk I bought it. These people are shameless, they take your money and provide no service at all. I recieved one call in a year from someone who was just browsing. They should be investigated by the BBB and shut down before they take away more of peoples hard earned money and provide nothing in return.

I also have fallen into the lie's of buyowner.com. We listed our home around july 5th, 2006 and have never received a call. We paid over 5K and received a website that had so many words spelled incorrectly. and if you call the number on the sign and listen to your advertisement you will hear why no one is coming to look. In september we went with their MLSrealty because we were told that we can not go with any other realtor just to be added to the MLS listings. Well the only calls we are receiving are calls from other agents offering to sell our home for full price (which is bull also) The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recently ruled that under the federal law, real estate sales associates may not call for sale by owners (FSBOs) and homeowners with expired listings to solicit for listings if the owners' names are listed on the National Do-Not-Call Registry, even if the homeowner's telephone number appears on a yard sign or in a newspaper ad. I like to tell them (the agent) this when they call tlling me they can sell my house for full price ha. I have placed an add on www.owners.com and received more traffice in 3 weeks then i have in the 4 months with buyowner.com. I wish we would have did research on them before signing on the dotted line.
