Target Informative - Eye Opener Major Complaint
SARSOTA, FLORIDA -- I purchased Gift cards for Applebee's restaurant for my Mother while on a shopping trip to the US. I live in Aruba. Total $150. My Mom is 73. Within one week she took a friend to enjoy the gift. After eating Applebees told her the cards were not valid. Her own fault for not brining alternate payment method her friend was detained at the restaurant while she drove 9 miles home for he wallet. Stuff happens, here is where I get lost. I call from Aruba to Target customer service. Some guy answers in India... Ok I am a global guy. The Associate is well trained and nice but can do no more than hear me out and apologize. I try to give him my receipt number and he tells me they have no access to that. I ask if he can simply take my e-mail and get back to me. He transfers me to a more English speaking supervisor who says they are stateside. She will not offer her name after being asked three times. She tells me that it is between me and Applebees. After I read my receipt number she tells me that I was no the purchaser that it was a gift. I assure her that indeed I made the purchase. She tells me to call someone else tomorrow. I ask that I give her my e-mail and she has someone get back to me. She says this is not Targets problem. She hangs up on me. I am in customer service so I was never rude or out of line. I hope indeed this was recorded. Target has lost me for life, not because what happened to my Mom but because their inability to handle the aftermath. I wanted zero compensation just for them to fix the problem. Mom says she will take back the cards for a refund tomorrow.
Wall Mart in the same city was not as clean or well presented but that is where my cash will go from here on out.
