General Motors Complaint - Don't let them pick your pocket!
DETROIT, MICHIGAN -- We bought an Equinox for our daughter's college graduation and had roughly 3300 GM Points to use. Our dealership, Legacy Chevrolet in Columbus, GA, said we could use only 1000 on the Equinox, even calling some phony GM card person on the phone (on speaker) who confirmed the limit. Two months later, we noticed that our GM Points had fallen to 0.
A call to HSBC's GM Card center revealed that the dealership had indeed claimed all 3300 points. The GM people said any complaint would have to be handled at the dealership, that it was not their responsibility. We contacted the dealer, who said they had discovered their error right away and had mailed us a check for the 2300. The next day, they even showed us a copy of the "original" check -- of course, any moron could have generated a check and then made a copy. What a crock! Any reputable group would have telephoned when they "discovered their [$2300] error". No, if we had not called, we would have been cheated out of our benefits. As it was, they got several weeks interest on the $2300. They basically ripped off General Motors for $2300.
Clearly General Motors and its dealership are shysters who will do anything for a buck. We will never purchase another GM vehicle, and we will never do anything that will in any way support the corporation or its dealerships. Every time I hear about GM or its dealers, I check the bottom of my shoes.
