Sanyo Complaint - 1/4 of screen dark
CHESTER, SOUTH CAROLINA -- I purchesd a Sanyo 46 inch TV less than a year ago. Now it has a dark spot on the right hand side. Sanyo is a bad company. Don't buy or you will be sorry.

What happened when you called for warranty coverage?
Man-made things break, and sometimes prematurely. That is why having at least a 1-year warranty is nice - to cover unexpected problems that show up early. Good luck.

Could you have had an unshielded speaker near the TV? Maybe a clock/radio or something? Not sure if the new LCD tvs have problems with that but the crt types sure did.

Sanyo is one of the factory seconds television I've spoken about in the past and is very much why warranty coverage is so very important. Many of these forms of television have very limited warranty coverage. If one is going to use any of the warranty provided, retaining both the original box and packaging, they must be willing to pay for the product's shipment back to Forest City, Arkansas.
A smart consumer realizes all of this prior to making such a purchase and determines whether or not taking such a risk is worth the price at which the product is being offered. Doing so isn't necessarily wrong. We've got one gal on this site that absolutely insists that warranty coverage is meaningless. Generally paying a little more will get the consumer a better built O.E.M. brand and even good, additional warranty coverage.
