Hollister at Tuttle Crossing Mall Complaint - Does Anyone Read Or Respond To Complaints!!! - Lack of service

Lack of service - Complaint
Review by jlarkin79 on 2011-12-30
DUBLIN, OHIO -- My teenage daughter passes out in your store. No one responds. I have called your store manager, all she could respond with was, "I wasn't there." "They must not have seen it." and my favorite . "If you want to file a complaint get on the website and send an email." Interestingly enoug I sent an email (actually severa ) and they were returned "undeliverable". I have made numerous calls to corporate and told repeatedly. to send an email someone should respond. One person said her would "redflag" my email to be sure it would be read as they have large amounts of bulk emails coming thru. Hence my reason for wanting to speak to a person in the first place. Well it has been 4 days now and still no response. I am still waiting...............

I wonder if your emails are being reviewed by legal before any response is given. Were you with your daughter when she passed out in the store?

If someone passes out in a store, it is not the store's responsibility to correct their medical problem. Its hard to believe that this store just let your daughter lie unattended in the aisle, with no one around. I would assume someone was with your daughter and they helped her. In that event, the store's obligation, if any, was to call 9-11.

Obviously, your daughter regained consciouseness. How did she come around? What was the medical cause of this? Was 9-11 called? Was there follow up medical evaluation?

I would think that a store clerk seeing a young person faint, but who is being assisted by a friend, would not do anything unless requested by the friend. What did the friend tell the store personnel? One of the inherent problems is that when something occurs in public, they and their friends minimize the problem - she just fainted, she will be alright.

This is just a guess but she maybe hypoglycemic (low blood sugar).

It doesn't sound like the OP expected the employees to correct the medical problem, since she stated "no one responded." At a minimum the employee should have alerted mall security, their manager, or called 911. I don't know, maybe it's just me but I couldn't just sit there and watch someone having an emergency and do nothing.

I don't think it's a legal requirement though, so I'm not sure what the OP is hoping to gain by contacting Hollister.

I'd be interested in knowing more about this. For example if anyone was with your daughter when she passed out? Was store personnel aware she had passed out? How long was she passed out (if someone knows)?

At my job, if someone needs medical attention, we are not allowed to call 911 or help in any way. We have to call a manager who will call 911. I wonder if other companies follow similar policies where they are not allowed to help

It is possible that the manager was correct - no one saw her faint and therefore could not do anything about it.

I'd like to know more. Because right now it sounds like your daughter fainted, no employees were around, and you just walked out with her passed out in her arms leaving the store completely unaware that anything happened.
