Joann Fabric Online Complaint - Sale Price Declined Five Days Later

Review by taunkai34 on 2011-12-31
EL PASO, TEXAS -- I ordered the cricut bundle 12/24/2011 for the price of $179.99 online. Five days later,12/29/2012, I recived an email that Joann Fabric had cancelled my order. (If you shop online with Joann Fabric, you know that it will offer an option to be notified about a product that is not in stock. You can not check out without it stating that the item is out of stock. This did not happen. All went as usual.

Anyhow, I called as I had their website up and looking at the same item for $399.99 in stock. I am still waiting for a response. This highly corrupt! A group of us believe that they did a web miSprint and are denying the initial price.

I think you may mean JoAnn Fabric. In the header it's reading Jaonn fabric.

I guess this is another good reason to go directly to their store for any purchase. I would guess, legally, they can do this but I can understand the frustration.

what a rip off! if you have the original receipt, i would fight them on it and get the item for the lower price. to me this IS bait and switch.

Customers should not have to go directly to the store to get a price honored.

If an error was made, such as allowing a sale price after the sale was technically over, I feel the company should at least offer a discount.

We dont have enough details to know WHY the order was canceled, but I agree with the OP. Something smells here.

madc - there is no receipt, and this isn't b&S - the order was cancelled and the OP was not offered anything at a higher price.

I understand what you mean that if an item is out of stock you can't complete the order.

*However*, on any website I have seen this does not imply that the reverse is true - that if you are allowed to complete the order you are guaranteed delivery.

I can see why you are suspicious, and I hope they give you a satisfactory explanation. It may have been clearing out inventory of a previous version or something.

The same thing happened to me! I ordered when the product was 50% off, and they emailed me a week later saying that they were out of stock and that they were cancelling my order. I then saw that they had raised the price of the item on their website without saying anything about it being out of stock. Suspicious, I put in another order right away, this time paying the higher price. TWO DAYS after they'd canceled my cheaper order, they shipped the more expensive one! Exact same item
