Kentucky Utilities Complaint - Monopolist Crooks - Electric Service

LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY -- Just when you think it can't get any worse with KU, they one up the stakes. Last year I was hospitalized and while in the hospital I did neglect my electric bill and they shut off my service. Now that was the first time in over 6 years I had ever been late with a bill to KU, but they still shut me off and required that I pay a deposit and reconnect fee. Now I have sold my home and moved out of their service area and they owe me my deposit back, but they don't return it to you for 30 days. I was two weeks late and they shut me off, but they feel that they can hold on to my money for 30 days. What a horrid way to do business.

30 days is typical time frame to have the deposit refunded. This allows for the final bill to be processed and if not paid, the amount is deducted from the deposit before the remaining amount is refunded. It's probably outlined in their TOS if you have those handy.
