Days Inn / Wyndham Hotel Group Informative - Days Inn: Amenities added to rooms then charges extra for them.
GRAYLING, MICHIGAN -- I was quite miffed to learn I was charged $1.50 for the digital safe in my room. I did not request it nor was I expecting it. It's presumptuous for Days Inn to assume their guests need this or will even use it.
What in the world justifies this amenity as an extra charge in contrast to the microwave, refrigerator, hair drier, iron and ironing board or washable TV remote control, which are not? Why not generate even more income by furnishing each room with a treadmill for $10.00 per night or massage chairs for $15.00?
I've stayed in many other hotels with digital safes and there was no charge; how do they manage that? At the VERY least, these safes should all be deactivated on arrival and then activated only when and IF requested and THEN added onto the bill. THIS sounds like a much more reasonable plan, obviously never thought of.
As is often the case, it's NOT the money but rather the principal.
