Terry's Compliment - Not All Oranges are Annoying!

Review by Venice09 on 2012-01-08
Move over Annoying Orange! There's a new fruit in town. And it's not annoying. In fact, it's not even an orange. It's Terry's Chocolate Orange. Just "Whack and Unwrap"! Then indulge in the heavenly combination of chocolate and orange. And the best part?.. it doesn't talk back!

Terry's Dark Chocolate Orange is my favorite candy. It also comes in milk chocolate for those who prefer a sweeter taste. Either way, it is chocolate at its finest. A unique segmented chocolate ball with an orange shape design and a perfect orange taste from real orange oil, it's divided into 20 "segments" similar to a real orange, and wrapped in foil.

If you're a chocolate lover and haven't tried Terry's Chocolate Orange, this is the perfect time since chocolate is now considered a health food!.. in moderation, of course.

Great review, Venice. We have had one of these and they are awesome!

Great for sharing and pairs perfectly with a mimosa.

I haven't tried one, but I may now. Good review. I recall some kind of fruit/chocolate concoction maybe 10 years ago that wasn't far from this idea. Maybe I don't get out enough, and they have had them all along...

There's a raspberry one too. Delicious

I haven't tried these, but given your review and the comments, Venice, I will be getting some soon!

Love the title, too!

I've never heard of such a product. Where would one find these? The local grocery store? Chocolate and Orange sounds like an odd combination, but then again, most things are until you try them for the first time.

Justice, around the holidays, I see this product all over the place, especially in drug stores. I only buy it during the holidays so I don't know if it's available year round
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2012-01-08:
I've seen this around alot, but it never aPEELED to me...the thought of chocolate and orange seems a bit odd. But, maybe I'll try it just for the heck of it.

Is it a solid chocolate with orange flavor or does it have orange liquidy stuff in it?

I like whacking my food before I eat it...
Posted by MRM on 2012-01-08:
You is nasty.
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2012-01-08:
Yeah, it did sound kinda nasty after I posted it...but, that wasn't want I meant...I was thinking when I was flattening out some chicken the other day with my hammer like tenderizer...my Dad came into the kitchen to see what all the noise was. He said, 'You don't have to whack it, it's already dead'....LOL!

I have seen these before but never tried them, I'll get them thanks venice.

I'd love to whack the annoying orange
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2012-01-08:
Did you just say, you love the annoying orange?
Posted by Anonymous on 2012-01-08:
No way!
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2012-01-08:
Yes, you did. You said, "I__ love __ _____the annoying orange."
Posted by Anonymous on 2012-01-08:
You left some words out
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2012-01-08:
I was pointing out the fact that you indeed stated that you love the annoying orange.
Posted by Anonymous on 2012-01-08:
No, I want to whack him on the head
Posted by trp2hevn on 2012-01-08:
I've had these before too. Love them!
Posted by momsey on 2012-01-08:
trmn8r, these have been out for years, so maybe these are what you're recalling. They are usually out only around the holidays. And DB, as much as you'd probably like a liquid to come out after you whack it, it's just orange flavored chocolate.
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2012-01-08:
LOL, Momsey!!!
As MR. Mike would say, 'You is nasty'!!!
Posted by Anonymous on 2012-01-08:
Now I have a serious sweet tooth! :)
Posted by Venice09 on 2012-01-08:
Excellent question, DB. The first time I saw Terry's Chocolate Orange, many years ago, they were piled high in a cart of clearance items at Shop Rite for twenty-five cents each. I only bought two because, even though I love the chocolate/orange combination, I thought they had orange filling. When I got home, whacked and unwrapped, and discovered it was orange flavored solid chocolate, I ran back to the store to get more. Needless to say, they were all gone. I have always regretted not wheeling the whole cart up to the checkout and buying them all.

As fate would have it, I was in Shop Rite at just the right time last week when Terry's Chocolate Oranges were on clearance for eighty-one cents! Okay, it wasn't twenty-five cents, but that was many, many years ago. Since I had no intention of making the same mistake twice, I now have a year's supply of chocolate oranges!

Nice review Venice.

These are excellent, first saw them in UK, then east coast then it moved westward, like alot of UK imports....
Orange, raspberry, toffee crunch.

Try them they are wicked good. The segmentation idea means easy to share and control portions too!(esp around kids or offices)
Posted by Venice09 on 2012-01-10:
There's also mint, onlooker. I bought one but haven't tried it yet. I haven't been able to find raspberry, but I know I would love that, too!

As far as portion control, that doesn't really work for me. Despite the fact that it's segmented and easy to reseal, I sometimes manage to eat the whole thing!
Posted by Anonymous on 2012-01-10:
There's a mint one too?!?!?!
Posted by Anonymous on 2012-01-10:
These are delish, the dark chocolate orange is my favorite too. I bought a key lime one this year and they are really good, too. Out here, they're sold by Ferrara but otherwise are exactly the same as the picture.
Posted by onlooker on 2012-01-10:
mint orange and a good cup of coffee....and yeah the foil wrap portion control only worked on the kids.
Posted by Venice09 on 2012-01-10:
I only have one mint so I'm saving it for a special occasion! The dark chocolate orange will always be my favorite. Never tried it with coffee, but that sounds delicious.
Posted by Anonymous on 2012-01-10:
I'm going to look for the mint one
Posted by Venice09 on 2012-01-11:
Terry's doesn't seem to have its own website, but if you search Terry's Chocolate Orange and look at some other sites and images, you'll see a lot of other Terry's products. I've never seen them in stores though.

Terry's Chocolate Orange Birthday Cake
Posted by Venice09 on 2012-01-11:
OMG!.. haha!!

If you put them all in front of me, I wouldn't know where to start.

Easter eggs and cookies sound great. I was wondering about lemon. Too bad it's out of production because that would be good, too. I would even try the white chocolate even though I'm not a big fan.

The individually wrapped segments is a good idea. That way I would be less likely to eat the whole orange!
Posted by Anonymous on 2012-01-11:
Birthday cake sounds good
Posted by Venice09 on 2012-01-11:
I think Birthday Cake means you can decorate a cake with the segments. I saw some pictures of that. I'm not sure they actually make a "Birthday Cake" variety. But if they did, I'd try that one, too!
