What I find and consider Unethical Practices by Route 22 Honda Dealership
On December 28th I stopped by Route 22 Honda to purchase a new vehicle. I was helped by Mr. Michael one of the salesman at the dealership. I explained to Michael that I was looking for a base model accord and had seen several advertised for $ 21,380. I also told Michael that I did not want to waste his time or mine to give me his best price on the new car and the price they were giving me for my trade. After a while he came back and told me that they where giving me $ 6,500 for my trade and that he got me and additional $300 on top of the $ 1000 he had already giving me. I said ok to start the paper work.
After several hours I went up to the finance department to sign the paper work but could not do so because I had to go to the bank and withdraw 6000.00 that I had promised to put down since I owe $6245.00 on my trade and that was a wash. I was running late and had to take my son to airport for trip back to college and was leaving early next morning on a plan vacation and in rushing I signed the paper work without really going through it.
I drove the car home where it sat in my driveway while I was on vacation. Upon returning I went through the paper work and was very disappointed with my findings. I sent an email to the owner of the dealership explaining what had happened and though they would understand and make good. Instead I was told by Matt that the amount promised for my trade was and allowance and that the negative balance was added to the selling price.
Trusting that what they had told me during the purchase process was true. I neglected to check the paper work thoroughly and pay the price. Now I own a base model accord that should had cost me $ 21,380 + tax any where else for $26,699 + tax
1. I was promised a base model Accord for $21,380 with a discount of $1300 and $6500.00 for my trade and was not delivered.
2. The loan for my trade was supposed to been payoff and it is still open.
3. Finance department had promised a 1.9 % financing and added and extended warranty and gap insurance that was never agreed upon. I was told it was to buy down percentage. I don’t understand this since I have good credit
This has left me with a bitter taste in my mouth for this dealership and will never return to do business with them ever again. I’m filling a formal complaint with the BBB and also with Honda
