Sears Complaint - If a Christmas gift only works for one day, you should honor the guarantee even if it was bought more than 30 days ago
ALTOONA, PENNSYLVANIA -- I bought a 7" Tablet for my daughter for Christmas. I bought it on Black Friday so by the time we opened it on Christmas the 30 guarantee was already over. she used it for 1 day and the next day she tried to use it she pushed the button to turn it on and the button fell inside the unit. I tried to get it out by trying to open the unit slightly, but I couldn't get it. I took it back to Sears and told them what happened. The clerk told me he believed what I was saying, but he couldn't do anything for me. So, I called corporate and told them what happened. They contacted the store manager who said he would not replace it because the clerk told them it was not defective my daughter broke it. Well, technically, I guess she did by turning it on. Crazy of her to want to use an expensive Christmas gift for more than one day. What really made me mad was that it the clerk didn't believe what I was saying he should have had the guts to say so. He would have been wrong, but at least he would have been honest. Corporate offered me a $70 gift card, but I don't want their gift card. I want my 7 year old to be able to use her Christmas present for more than one day. Also, since I will never shop at Sears again, what good is a gift card going to do me. If this is how Sears treats their customers, no wonder they are going under.
