Chevrolet Complaint - Injector Pump

Review by millerlapine on 2012-01-13
LAPINE, OREGON -- I own A "99" Cheverolet Suburban with A 6.5 liter diesel engion with 151500 miles on the odometer. My complaint is the Isolator on the Injector pump. The injector pump was replaced 3 times by local dealers for failure to work properly. I just paid $550.00 to have A new isolator installed that is located remotely from the pump. Long ago independent mechanics discovered that the isolator was heat sensitive and needed to be located in an area where it wouldn't be subjected to high temps. in fact there is A kit especially for that application. My complaint is that Chevrolet should have known of this problem and effected A recall and fixed it long ago. The pumps were installed under warranty but with the current mileage I was forced to pay to have the remotely installed isolator done. It would seem to me that Chevrolet paid for three complete injector pumps that were not faulty, just the isolator needed to be relocated.

Thank you, Gary Miller

You make a completely logical argument, but auto manufacturers don't think logically. Good luck with the new setup - I hope it is more reliable.
