Kohls Complaint - More Kohl's junk - Change counter

Change counter - Complaint
Review by chayy on 2012-01-15
WOODHAVEN, MICHIGAN -- My wife bought me an Emerson battery operated change counter from Kohl's for Christmas. I used it once and it didn't work again. Tried new batteries and it still won't turn on. We have another item that she bought for Christmas that also has to go back because it is defective. More Chinese junk from Kohl's. They seem to have become a glorified flea market.
"Big savings" turn in to extra money wasted on back and forth trips to make exchanges and returns!

I dont think you can blame Kohl's here. Emerson coin sorters are soldat quite a few stores.

best part about kohl's, they accept returns with no receipt.

I agree, raven. It's hard to find anything in any store that is not made in China. IMO 75% IS, in fact, junk. But we, as buyers, are guilty of perpetuating this trend.

In a way, I agree with the OP. I wish Kohl's wouldn't sell this stuff. But I can't say that I blame them either. Everyone is selling it, and they have to compete. It's becoming harder and harder to find quality merchandise. I almost think it's too late for consumers to do anything about it.

Mad, chuck and Venice, all good points. I think "we the people" have perpetuated this---if we didnt accept inferior crap just to get a "good" price, the manufactureres would not make the stuff

This is the problem. Mediocre or just good enough seems to be statuesque for most products today. Just look at all of the negative reviews for appliances. I am so sick of buying products "Made in China." The consumer really isn't given a choice. I will buy American even if the price is higher but it's hard to find these products. The government needs to give these big companies a tax break so the jobs will come back here.

ok4now, as someone that works with firms in Guangdong and ASEAN the issue of American's lack of manufacturing isn't education, (15 yrs for a critical mass is time we don't have) infrastructure, though new bridges are nice... You are close in as much as tax relief in the form of lower corporate tax rates in this country which are too high - amongst the higher rates in the OECD member states. Staying on point, there is culpability and complicity by the US consumer for "junk" as much is specifically manufactured and targeted to this market.

It isn't that the taxes are too high, that is a myth perpetuated by Republican corporate lap dogs.GE for example earned billions and paid no no US income tax,in fact they received rebates from the government.Other countries protect their markets with tariffs, which we don't. If they placed a tariff on imports and used the money to subsidize manufacturing here, we would get better quality US made goods and create jobs. Instead we give tax breaks to corporations to outsource our jobs.

The other piece of junk that was purchased at Kohl's as a Christmas present was some kind of "fancy" retractable dog leash with a flashlight on it. It doesn't work either. Why should we as consumers be expected settle for junk? I will start doing without things instead of throwing my money away and wasting my time.

Massive thread drift however... "myth perpetuated by Republican lap dogs??" Umm you do realize Obama appointed Jeff Immelt as "Job Czar"...Mr Immlet is CEO of GE. We have 17 Free Trade agreements including 3 recently signed by Mr Obama including S. Korea... you know, LG, Samsung and the like. Lack of understanding how tariffs work does not make your points correct and this is hardly the forum to discuss and educate the finer points of such.
