Pep Boys Auto Parts Complaint - Not Knowlegable/Not Trust Worthy

Review by cnagaindo on 2012-01-16
CATHEDRAL CITY, CALIFORNIA -- I drove in a 2004 Honda Civic to remove the damage wheel bolt/studs. When mechanic checked it out, estimated cost was $ 55.95. But then when wheel and other parts were removed then they wanted it for $ 160.00 just to remove two bolts. Outrageous, way more than original estimate, that is happened when we trust un trustworthy shop, either try to rip you off or just do not have knowledge to do the job.

I can think of one possibility without knowing more details - that they determined that the bolts could not be removed from the hub/rotor when they got in there, and a new hub or rotor was required.

Did you ask them to explain the difference in quotes, and if so what was the explanation? At first glance, $160 seems a bit high even if they had to replace a rotor.
