A & E Factory Service Complaint - Sears & Maytag Beware - Refrigerator

Refrigerator - Complaint
Review by justdafax on 2012-01-18
LAKEWOOD, NEW JERSEY -- Unfortunatley for me when I contacted Maytag about a problem with my refrigerator they hooked me up with A& E which in retrospect makes no sense - why would a great brand name want this type of negative association and publicity? Long and short of it is they charged me $240 for labor for putting in a simple relay switch and I got had. Called company and they agreed it was excessive for 30 minutes of work but that's what they charge regardless if it takes 30 minutes or 7 hours to fix. Consumers beware - get estimate first before they arrive, my bad and I paid for it. Hopefully Better Business Bureau will be able to help.

Live and learn. Next time you'll know better. If there's no warranty and you'll be paying the bill yourself, you can choose any service company you want. I wouldn't call the manufacturer for service unless I had to.

So there's an appliance servicer that makes a house call. Upon seeing the appliance and the type of problem the customer was complaining about, he unscrewed a small service panel and flipped a switch. Everything then worked perfectly. The servicer then told the customer the amount for the service would be $150. The customer exclaimed, "What! All you did is flip a dog-gone switch!" The servicer replied, "Flipping the switch only cost you $1." The customer then asked, "Then what's the extra $149 for?" "That's for knowing what switch to flip," explained the servicer.

If I wrote this review, I would not be in the mood for jokes. I wonder how the OP feels.

It isn't. It teaches the principle that one pays for one's background or education.

I don't think that explanation is something an OP would appreciate.
