Macy's Complaint - Refund - Undelivered Merchandise

NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- The end of November I ordered a Jacket for my son as a Christmas gift. After two weeks of waiting for delivery I checked the Macy's web site and found the tracking number for UPS. The tracking number said that the merchandise was never received by UPS for shipping. I than called Macy's and after 3 attempts at asking them to find the jacket they finally admitted that the Jacket was never sent out. They apologized and promised a refund to my Macy's charge account. This was right before Christmas so I bought another jacket on my Macys charge.

A few weeks later I received a exchange card from Macys in the mail for $149 the price of the jacket. I was promised a refund but was given a gift card ( they call it an exchange card ) for the amount instead. I am so annoyed at this since this was not my fault it was their error. So the money I would have spent for the jacket is still on my charge and I went out and bought another jacket thinking that I would be refunded for the first. Now I have the price of two jackets on my charge.

Macy's should not be allowed to give gift cards for refunds it is a way for them to keep you in debt, now I have an additional $149 on my charge plus outrageous interest. There should be a law about how stores can refund money especially when it was their error!!!

Have you called them during weekday business hours to complain about this?

To me, you should clearly receive a full refund to your card. You need an explanation and need to speak with someone at card services.

They should have credited your account, but I'm wondering if an exchange card is different from a gift card and if it can be used to pay the bill. You should find out.

i ordered a jacket 6 hrs ago called after 6 hrs to cancel being wkend i thought its should not b a problem. but little did i know they say that its been processes n they cant cancel it at this time.i jus have to wait til i get it n then return it bk.

The Macy's web site says that refunds on gifts will be by way of a "store merchandise credit." Perhaps in describing the situation to the Macy's employees about this being a "gift" for your son, they erred by treating it as a gift return - therefore the store mechandise credit.

I would take my Macy's credit statement and the store merchandise card down to an actual Macy store and explain in person about the two jackets. Then, I would seek to have the card applied to my credit account.
