General Motors Complaint - 2008 GMC paint quality bad
After reading the comments regarding paint quality on older GM vehicles and the idea that GM has corrected the paint issue, I decided to add my "three cents". Within 2 months of purchasing our 2008 GMC Yukon Denali, the paint started chipping off of the hood. I immediately contacted GM to notify them of the deficiency. They had me bring the vehicle to a dealer to be looked at. The dealer told me it was a result of road hazards. I told them this is my third Yukon purchased new and I have never had an issue with my paint, even after owning and driving one for 8 years/140,000 miles. I wrote a letter to the president of GM. A customer care representative called as a result of that letter only to tell me that they have had no other complaints about the paint quality. Really? I am the only one? Even better reason to stand behind your product and make it right for me! The end result is no repaint, a $100 GM credit voucher and now in 2012, I have missing bits of paint all over my hood, the mirrors and the doors. And no, I do not drive on gravel roads. We have spent a great deal of money on GM vehicles but this will be the last purchase we make from them. Next time, I will research deeply to find out who makes the best in my price range and who stands behind what they make. Considering how much my truck retails for, I should have a few options in that price range. Buyer beware.
To be fair, GMC used to have a solid customer care program. We had great care for our first two Yukons. Shame on them for losing me as a customer.
