Budget Rent-A-Car Complaint - LDW Scam
TORONTO -- Before renting a car from budget, I called up to asked for information about the LDW and was told by their customer service representative that it covers everything. I then gave them a scenario and asked if there was damage to the car, would I have to pay for it, and she told me no, everything is covered and that I wouldn't have to pay for anything.
So when I went to actually rent the car, I was given the paper to sign at a few places. I checked the total price and it matched the price I got online.
I ended up breaking one of the tail light, and had to fill out an incident report. Again, I should have checked but I didn't, and in the corner, there was a responsibility of $300 even though I bought the LDW. I called up to customer service to complain, but they just kept forwarding me to different departments that couldn't help. One of the customer service representatives though, told me that they aren't suppose to tell you what the LDW covers and the deductibles that are involved and should instead forward you to the location because it varies. All of this information a month AFTER I rent their car.
I guess the moral of the story is to read everything before you sign and never believe what you are told; even by their customer service representatives, or just don't rent from budget. And tail lights should not cost more than $300 to replace.
