RENTON, WASHINGTON -- If you are thinking about purchasing a Harbour Home...think again. They price their house like a premium builder but the quality is not even close. Customer service is even worse. After 1st years, the skylight start leaking and then the wood they used for the railing was split. They were unwilling to change or fix the railing when we did our closing inspection. They said that is part of the wood. In addition the grouting on the bathroom tiling is uneven and looks like a 5th grader did the work.

Please save yourself the hassle and pain...look elsewhere.

No, that sure isn't a premium product. Some of the wood from home centers can be more prone to checking than normal. I once got centersawn 4x4 cedar (center of the tree in the middle of each piece) to add onto my original deck and it split like mad after a few months. All the original pieces are fine till this day. I unwittingly saved 40% over what a higher quality product would cost and paid the price.

Quartersawn wood is much less suseptible to this. I'd be suspicious of someone who uses the excuse "wood will do what wood will do." While there is some truth to it, a good builder will avoid using junk to make junk.
