VRBO/Homeaway - Annual fee rip-off
Review by schubertdc on 2012-02-07
CALIFORNIA -- We are long time customers of VRBO - when it was just VRBO, and not part of HomeAway. The original policy allowed for proration of annual fees if listing was pulled prior to the renewal date. This was ideal for those of us who may have entered into a long term rental agreement. When I called to discontinue my listing for this reason, I was told "no prorated refund," period. Since this company (Homeaway) automatically puts your listing on auto-renew, I never saw this policy change. I've since learned you must "opt-out" of auto-renew; if you don't you simply get charged, no signature required, do discussion of change in terms. There are many home rental services out there - the old VRBO no longer exists. Homeaway does not value its customers; look elsewhere before signing on.
