MANCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE -- I would like to recognize Rand at the ticket counter in Manchester-Boston Airport.Thank you for a job well done. You handled a potentially unpleasant situation with grace, good sense and resourcefulness.

A gentleman claiming a hand gun in a case in a checked bag did not meet the FAA requirements of having a "locked" gun case. He blamed the system and was angry at you, using not so nice language. You did not respond in kind, but remained polite, and tried to find a remedy to the situation. You called in the appropriate authorities and asked the right questions about compliance. Someone from the
airport maintenance staff assessed the situation and it was decided he could drill a hole in the gun case. A lock was purchased by the gentleman's traveling partner....and all was well.

Thank you,
A witness to the situation while waiting in the check in line

PS, Rand accepted no gratuity offered by the traveling party
