- False Information

Background Check
Review by keith50t on 2012-02-10
COLUMBUS, OHIO -- I was applying for work with a temporary employment agency and they sent me a copy of the background check on me and I was shocked by the information. Everything was WRONG. There were 180 charges for everything from drug dealing to abduction. The first page had my name DOB and SSN correct but the rest of the report had dates and places I've never heard of.
I made a call to OPENonline and they promised to fix it but I still complained to the FTC. Even the name of the FTC website on the letter was wrong. My own research on myself turned up what I knew. I had a good record and they would have known that if they would done a proper check. The company I was told only uses date of birth for checks. How could a company which puts itself out as professional be so careless and unprofessional? Worst...How could their clients not see it?
I would not work for the temp service at all now if they offered me a good job, if they can't find good companies to run background checks how could they find someone a decent job?
As someone on here earlier wrote. Be aware of OPENonline. I now carry the false background check with me to other interviews and show it to new employers as a precaution, some of them smile when they see it.

It's possible an attorney might be interested in this since the information has had a demonstrable negative effect on you. You might also wonder how they came up with the wrong information (somebody using your identity or is it a data entry error?) You can find an attorney that will give a free consultation about this online or in the old Yellow Pages.
