Medical issues with the pads

DALLAS, TEXAS -- I have used Poise Pads for many years. Two years ago I started having issues with frequent UTIs. Last year I went to a Urologist and he did extensive tests to find nothing he could say was wrong. The burning, urinary urgency pain and itching was so intense it was debilitating. It affect my sex life, and my ability to leave home or even function at times. It didn't even go away with antibiotics the doctor gave me. So I went to a second Urologist and she tested me, did exams and even a MRI to no conclusive problem. I decided maybe it was something I was doing, maybe the soap or the pad I used.

I stopped using the pad and even quit my intake of caffeine thinking that might be it. After a week of not using the pads at all the pain subsided. Then I “tested” the use one more time and the pain came right back. So I have changed to Tena and don't have the issue. I have told my Urologist about it so she can now inform patients and know what to ask about if other patients have this problem. I'm furious for the disruption to my life for so long and it sickens me that Poise is now made in China, where they have no quality standards. I honestly believe, after reading all stories of similar situations, Kimberly Clark should have a class action lawsuit about this.

Poise Pads Causing Vaginal Infection/Contact Burn

NEENAH, WISCONSIN -- I switched to Poise pads about four months ago for bladder leakage. After the first month I developed a horrible vaginal burning at the opening and discharge. When urine would leak on the pad there was a horrible smell that I couldn't get rid of. I found this site a few months ago, and thank God I did!! I quit using the Poise pads but still had the vaginal burning and discharge. The infection was already active. I went to see 3 different doctors, two said it was my Atrophic Vaginitis acting up and prescribed Premarin vaginal cream, and one said it was Candistasis and gave me Diflucan.

Neither the Premarin cream or the Diflucan did any good and the Diflucan gave me horrible diarrhea. My doctor did say that I might have contact dermatitis from the Poise pads after I told her about what I read on here. A vaginal swab only showed non-specific vaginitis and couldn't pinpoint a certain diagnosis. My daughter who also uses Poise pads doesn't have any problems, so this must be something on the pad that only certain people are allergic to.

The only way that I could get rid of the infection was to use a mixture of 3 drops tea tree oil, 1 tbsp Virgin coconut oil, and 2 drops lavender oil and mix together. I put this mixture in vaginal applicators and froze them. I inserted this for 2 weeks and the infection disappeared... YEA!!! This also cures yeast infections. I pity any woman who has had a bad experience with Poise pads like me and others. It's horrific!!!

PENNSYLVANIA -- After being tested for everything, checked and poked, the past 2 months have been hell! Internal and external vaginal pain. Urethra pain. Feels like sand paper ran it over then I set it on fire. I can't urinate properly... symptoms of a UTI. Bloating. Cramps. Can't have sex. Pain is a 10. Doctors think I'm crazy. I've been crying from so much pain. Scared, confused. I googled the life out of it. Finally I came across these Maude FDA complaints, and women on here, SAME PROBLEMS EXACTLY. I thought, I use Poise liners everyday. About 2 months ago they changed quality, and advertised new printing. Now, made in China, not USA. I pray to God my who ha goes back to normal or I'll just die! Poison pads is your new name. Beware! Dont wing it, find something else. Now I fear trying anything else. Theyve ruined my life past 2 months and my medical bills are ready for me. I self diagnosed this one. You're disgusting!

Bad Reactions

KLAMATH FALLS, OREGON -- Have used Poise incontinence pads for a few years and thought they were pretty good until the last year or so. Thought I had yeast problem with off & on terrible itching of the labia area (but not vaginal). Couldn't figure out what was going on. Now, with the last few purchases I have noticed a VERY strong chemical odor when I change pads.
Was going to tell my doctor there was something wrong with my kidneys because of this odor.

Then when holding a fresh new pad up to my nose, I could smell that same chemical odor (which gets stronger when the pad has urine in it). Now after researching the internet for complaints, I see I am not alone or suffering from some weird disease. Thank God! I will definitely seek an organic, chemical-free pad to use from now on.

DALLAS, NEW YORK -- I read the other reviews and felt vindicated. I used these pads and the first time, I experienced burning while urinating. I contacted the company and they asked me to send a pad to them. I did. They never admitted that there was a problem and sent me a VISA gift card for $10.00, which took forever to get to me. So, after about two months, I tried the pads again. Less than a week after using the pads, I experienced the same problem. I contacted Kimberly Clark via email again and I am awaiting their response. My best guess is that they will say the same thing.

Kimberly Clark needs to pull their hourglass pads that are causing allergic reactions and rashes

NEENAH, WISCONSIN -- Kimberly Clark has made a poor decision. That have forced a very horrible light bladder protection pad on its consumers. Not only that, but they have discontinued their original tried and true product. They didn't let any of the merchants that sell them know that the originals were going to be discontinued. I went to all of the sold them, they all ordered them for me, but the order couldn't be filled.. All of the merchants told me they had no idea the products were no longer going to be sold.

Their new Hourglass pad as well as many of their other "new and improved" pads contain a dye to which MANY women are allergic. That topic alone entitled "allergic reaction" has had 8337 views (as of this review). That should give corporate a clue that it is just more than a few consumers who are having allergic reactions. On this forum they plant company reps who, in the words of one consumer who posted

"1. Dismiss the pain your customers are experiencing:
2. Dodging the questions asked in previous post; specifically, GIVE US A FULL NAME, FIRST AND LAST, OF A REAL PERSON ALONG WITH THEIR DIRECT PHONE NUMBER whom we can contact and who will be able to give us some assistance;
3. Dummying down the conversation by giving us the spin-doctored media response rather than actually addressing the needs of your customers."

The new pads are also horrible at containing leaks and odor. The old pads did EVERYTHING they were supposed to do. The new pads bunch up in the middle which cause leaks and embarrassment (ironic because they are supposed to PREVENT leaks and embarrassment.) They come apart and don't stay in place. There WAS a Poise on the market that had wings that kept it from bunching up, but that was discontinued also.

Kimberly-Clark has even stooped so low as to put their new substandard product (which comes in purple packaging) into their original pink packaging. They thought we, the consumers (some who have been using their product for 20 years) wouldn't notice. News Flash Kimberly Clark, we aren't the stupid people you think we are!!

I called the support number, I got a representative who apologizes profusely, tells me there are no plans to pull the rash causing product, assured me my complaint is being taken seriously and will be passed on to the research and marketing department. When other people have complained they are told that nobody has complained about the itching, burning, rashes except for them.. which is also what I was told when I called KC to complain. They are trying to sweep this problem under the rug and keep forcing this horrible product against unsuspecting consumers.

Then, those consumers experience the rashes itches and burning, call to complain, are told there are no other complaints about this product, offered a check and the cycle starts all over again. I was then offered coupons; she was obviously NOT listening to my complaint. Yes, there are other LBL products out there, none of which have wings, but that is not the point. The point is, our complaints are being ignored and dismissed. This new product was shoved down our throats with little option to continue using the original product. Kimberly Clark should be ashamed. The CEO who is a MAN, does not seem to care what is happening to his consumers.

Update and additions. I am just sickened at how Kimberly Clark KNOWS about the allergic reaction and rashes that have been caused by the dye in their "new and improved" Light Bladder Leakage (LBL) protection pads and have known about it since 2008 and have yet to pull the product from the shelves. Instead, they tell you to call the consumer line where a supervisor offers you a check for $50. That is disgraceful in my book.

Not only do they cause rashes, but they fall apart, the adhesive doesn't stick AND they leak. Kimberly Clark pulled all of the original pads (which worked perfectly fine with NO ALLERGIC REACTIONS) off of the shelves. That says to me.. "We are doing things our way, if you don't like it tough.**"

Please don't tell me to find another product. THERE ARE NO OTHER PRODUCTS THAT WORKED THE WAY THE ORIGINAL POISE DID! I have tried. Others have tried. Ladies, or husbands if you or your wives have recently started using the new Poise in the Purple Packing and have suddenly developed a rash or other allergic reaction, PLEASE get to your OB/GYN and take the package to them. Tell them about this review as well as the Poise.com sites so that they are informed and can help get the word out about this since Kimberly Clark is sweeping it under the rug and sticking it's head in the sand.

Severe Burning and Itching

I experienced severe, on fire, burning and itching within three hours of using Poise pads for the first time. I waited a few weeks and decided to try once more. The symptoms were even worse within two hours. A previous review described Poise pads as “Poison Pads”. Something is very wrong!!! Please take these complaints seriously.

MISSISSAUGA ONTARIO -- New format for Poise liners contains a noxious chemical that burns the vaginal mucosa and surrounding tissues when used. Please report to your Health Department or federal health or consumer protection agency. There are enough complaints to warrant a recall or investigation.

Terrible Burning and Itching

SHORELINE, WASHINGTON -- I have been using Poise pads for around a year. I, like another poster posted started noticing a chemical smell and SEVERE itching around my vulva area and also burning. I was going to go to the dr. but noticed on days that I didn't wear the pad the pain and itching tapered off. I am thinking these need to be pulled from the market. I have never had any type of reaction to pads before. I am definitely having an allergic reaction and it is to the most sensitive part of my body.
