FORT COLLINS, COLORADO -- I have needed to use my AFLAC insurance twice over the last 10 years and I cannot say enough GOOD things about their response: FAST payment, MORE money than I thought would be paid, NO HASSLE! The first time I needed it I was ill because of a pregnancy. AFLAC does have a waiting period from sign-up to maternity leave (so that you don't sign-up just because you're pregnant). But, this medical leave was during a pregnancy and within 2 weeks of filing my doctor's paperwork (which was simple paperwork), I had a check in hand via the mail. Then after I gave birth, they were "johnny-on-the-spot" again with the check for my maternity leave (coverage of 6 weeks, if I recall correctly).

BTW: I let the policy lapse for a year, and during that year I was out on a different medical leave. I really missed that coverage (could have used the income replacement), so AS SOON as I was back at work I renewed my coverage and I will never let it lapse again (that was 3 years ago)!
