LUTZ, FLORIDA -- I used this company to service my air conditioner. When they found out that I used another company when I purchased a new unit they found that the other company had a code violation and reported me. How desperate are these people that they actually snitch on customers if they choose to go with a different company?

Why would they report you if the other company had the violation? And how did they find out where you got your unit from?

to CLUTZYCOOK: When a new unit is installed they will leave a tag with their company name and phone number on it. As far as reporting the homeowner for the violation, that is how it is done. It is the homeowners responsibility to have the work redone to code. The homeowner can then pursue the original installer for any deficient work done. As far as reporting the violation this is not a bad thing. There are codes to be followed for a reason. Environmental and safety concerns are examples. Since we do not know what code was broken we can only speculate. Since there should be a level playing field for companies when these type of jobs are bid on and for the safety of the homeowner I see no problem with the code violation being reported.
